Our Story
Founded in 2023, SOCO., strives to craft movement that transcends the body and becomes a language of its own, a dialogue between histories, perspectives, and the untold stories that live within us all. A space where art is a mirror, a challenge, and an invitation to reimagine the world we inhabit. We seek to dissolve boundaries between audience and performer, and to blur the lines between movement and meaning. We are a small group of mind exploring the invisible threads that connect us: the silent power of shared humanity.
Who We Are
Sarah Olsen is a choreographer from Wappingers Falls, NY. In 2015, she moved upstate to obtain her bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam with concentrations in Dance and Anthropology. It was there she found an interest in the intersection of movement, culture, and human expression. She believes it is important to acknowledge the historical, cultural and social contexts that influence movement. Dance is a means of storytelling, a collection of lived experience reflected through the artist's eye. She hopes viewers of her work will ask themselves,”what makes us human?”

Brooklyn Monet began her dance training in her hometown of Syracuse, NY. In addition to almost 20 years of dance experience, she hold a degree in dance and composition from SUNY Potsdam and has trained with esteemed programs such as Perry-Mansfield and Christopher K. Morgan & Artists. Her skills as a vocal artist bring a rich musicality to both her performance educational style. Currently based in Long island NY, you can find her teaching at local youth centers, where her warm, upbeat and energetic approach shines through. Inspired by her own humble beginnings, Brooklyn is deeply committed to using dance and music as therapeutic tools to connect and uplift.

Cortney Nelsen began her dance training at the age of 12 in Queens, New York. She continued her training while earning her BA in Dance at SUNY Potsdam which allowed her the opportunities to work with companies such as Christopher K. Morgan & Artists as well as to attend intensives such as the American Dance Festival. Cortney is currently a teacher at Rockaway Beach Dance Company where she choreographs for a multitude of students of varying ages across many dance styles.
